In his first appearance inside the UFC Octagon, Dubliner Neil Seery put on an impressive display against Londoner Brad Pickett that ultimately lead to a unanimous decision win for the Brit.
The story of the fight was Seery’s impressive showing in the boxing department, constantly finding a home for his left hook and right straight. On more than one occasion he looked to have rocked Pickett, but the canny veteran, making his flyweight debut, sensibly took Seery down to the mat, grinding out the rounds with his wrestling.
The cut down to 125 lbs. didn’t look to have much of an effect for Pickett during the fight, with the only problem he faced being the faster hands of Neil Seery. Pickett looked slightly surprised by the power and speed of Seery and admitted afterwards that his corner were urging him to take the fight to the ground instead of standing in the pocket with the Team Ryano man.
In the end though, all three judges deemed Pickett’s takedowns enough to win him the fight, giving him a unanimous decision win. For Seery, he has truly arrived in the UFC and will most certainly be able to hold his head up high as he looks ahead to whenever his next fight is.
Brad Pickett defeated Neil Seery by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Brad Pickett got outboxed by Neil Seery, but the takedowns likely allowed him to win all three rounds. Good fight.
