Undefeated Swede Niklas Backstrom to Face Tom Niinimaki in Berlin

The UFC has confirmed that Niklas Backstrom will make his promotional debut against Finland’s Tom Niinimaki at UFC Fight Night 41 in Berlin. The Swede, who holds a perfect 7-0 record, replaces Thiago Tavares who pulled out of the bout due to injury. 24 year old Backstrom has been pegged as a hot prospect in the sport by some of the MMA cognoscenti, including fellow countryman and training partner Alex Gustafsson. Gegard Mousasi vs. Mark Munoz Set to Headline UFC Fight Night in Berlin

The UFC’s recently announced return to Germany in May now officially has a main event. Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (34-2-4, 1-1 UFC) will take on “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Mark Munoz (13-4, 8-4 UFC) in a five-round main event. Both fighters are coming off losses in the middleweight division, with Mousasi losing an epic five round decision to current number one contender Lyoto Machida (21-4, 13-4 UFC).
