The UFC’s recently announced return to Germany in May now officially has a main event. Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi (34-2-4, 1-1 UFC) will take on “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Mark Munoz (13-4, 8-4 UFC) in a five-round main event.
Both fighters are coming off losses in the middleweight division, with Mousasi losing an epic five round decision to current number one contender Lyoto Machida (21-4, 13-4 UFC). His previous fight was a victorious one in his UFC debut when he defeated Swede Ilir Latifi (8-3, 1-1 UFC) by unanimous decision last April.
Munoz is also coming off a loss to Lyoto Machida, with his coming by way of a first round knockout back in October. This will be Munoz’s fourth five-round fight in his last four fights incidentally.
The event will take place in Berlin’s O2 World Arena on May 31st, and will mark the first time in history that two UFC events will take place simultaneously as the finale of ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3’ also takes place that day.
